Finding Healing Through Hope: Weekly Bible Study at Ian’s Place
Grief is a road no parent should ever have to walk, yet here we are—trying to find our way through the unimaginable.
The loss of a child is not just heartbreak; it is a shattering of the world as we knew it.
Time feels different.
Faith feels different.
Life itself feels like a question without an answer.
At Ian’s Place, we do not pretend to have all the answers.
We know that no words, no well-meaning advice, and no amount of time can make this pain disappear.
But we also know that we do not have to walk this road alone.
One of the ways we find comfort, strength, and healing is through our Weekly Bible Study—a time set aside for grieving parents to gather, reflect, and find hope in God’s Word.
It is a space where faith and sorrow meet, where scripture is not just read, but deeply felt, and where we are reminded that even in our darkest moments, God is near.
A Safe Place for Grieving Hearts
Grief changes everything, including our relationship with faith. Some of us may feel abandoned by God, questioning how such loss could be part of any plan. Others may be holding onto Him more tightly than ever, finding in His Word the only thing steady enough to stand on. Many of us feel both—sometimes in the same day.
No matter where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here.
💙 You do not have to pretend to be okay. There are no expectations, no pressure to have the “right” emotions, and no judgment.
💙 You can ask hard questions. It is okay to wrestle with faith, to wonder where God is in your pain, and to be honest about your struggles.
💙 You will be met with understanding. Every parent here knows the depths of grief. You do not have to explain your pain—it is already understood.
💙 You can find peace, even if just for a moment. The storm of grief is relentless, but in scripture, we find moments of stillness.
What to Expect at Weekly Bible Study
Each week, we gather to reflect on scripture, share our thoughts, and allow God’s Word to meet us right where we are. We do not force conclusions or rush the healing process. Instead, we focus on:
1. Finding Comfort in God’s Presence
The Bible tells us that God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), but what does that really mean when your heart has been shattered? Together, we explore how God’s love meets us in our grief—not by erasing our pain, but by walking through it with us.
2. Holding Onto the Hope of Eternal Reunion
For many of us, the only thing that keeps us going is the hope that we will see our children again. The Bible speaks to this over and over—reminding us that death is not the end of our child’s story, or ours. We reflect on passages like John 14:1-3 and Revelation 21:4, which remind us that God has prepared a place where suffering does not exist, and where our children are waiting for us.
3. Strength for Today, Hope for Tomorrow
Grief is exhausting. Some days, just getting out of bed feels impossible. But through scripture, we find the strength to take the next step, even if it is a small one. Verses like Philippians 4:13 remind us that when we have nothing left, God carries us.
4. Creating a Safe Space for Honest Reflection
Grief can be isolating, and sometimes, faith communities do not know how to support parents after child loss. This study is different. It is not about moving on—it is about moving forward, together. Some days, we may simply sit in silence. Other days, we may cry, question, or share memories. However you show up, you are welcome.
