Grief Support for Loss of a Young Child
The grief that comes with the loss of a child, let alone, a young child, is profoundly unique in its depth and complexity. It isn’t just the loss of a life—it’s the loss of dreams, goals, and milestones never celebrated.
When a young child’s life is taken, it often feels as though time itself has betrayed us, stealing away the future we had envisioned so clearly. For parents, it’s not just losing a child—it is losing a part of ourselves, a bond that began even before birth. This type of grief leaves us with so many what-could-have-beens and unanswered questions, making it unlike any other loss.
We carry a deep sense of vulnerability, as the death of someone so innocent and full of potential challenges our fundamental understanding of fairness and life itself.
This pain is raw, deep, and unmeasurable. It speaks to the boundless love we carry in our hearts for our children.
Not a Path to Walk Alone
Grief is not a path we can or should walk alone, nor does it follow a set timeline. Each parent’s and family’s healing journey is unique, but connection and understanding often light the way forward.
Ian’s Place exists to provide grieving families with a safe, compassionate space to share, listen, and heal together.
Whether you’re newly bereaved or have been on this difficult path for years, we invite you to learn about Ian’s Place and discover the solace, support, and community we offer.
Our Story and Our Mission
Ian’s Place was born from loss and love. After losing our own beloved son, Ian, on August 1, 2019, we felt adrift in a sea of overwhelming grief. While there was plenty of general advice about coping with loss, there wasn’t a tangible, local resource that truly resonated with our experience. Through the haze of our sadness, we felt a calling—to create a space where parents like us, grieving the loss of a young child, adult child, or a child at any age, could come together to find comfort, hope, and healing.
Ian’s Place is more than a support group—it’s a community. Our mission is to provide a Christian environment where bereaved parents and families can pray, listen, cry, and share for as long as it takes to heal.
“You may not believe you will walk back into the light, but we can walk with you.”
